Dream Karen Walker studded sandals

27 May

It’s times like this I wish I could say ‘shieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet’ in the manner of Senator Clay Davis. I saw these shoes on Jak & Jil earlier — apparently they’re Karen Walker. I think they’re probably the best shoes ever. I realise I say that often, but in this case I think I mean it. I like them even more than ~the~ Burberry ones. Clumpy heel of optimum height. Strap that’s low enough not to showcase my fat ankles. THE STUDS.

I can’t find them anywhere. Throw me a bone if you’ve seen them.

Ashidashi novelty socks are better than any other novelty socks

21 May

One of the negatives of not wearing trousers any more is that I don’t get to wear socks. Every now and then I get the opportunity to slip a pair on and BOY is it a (comfortable) novelty. My boyfriend wears a variation on these most days and raves about how pulling them right up is basically the sartorial equivalent of an enema, ie, the most satisfying thing on the planet. Anyway, one thing that would mos def tempt me back to the world of pants is these Ashidashi socks. I don’t know which are my favourite…

The meat?

The fags?

The woodgrain?

Actually, fuck that, it’s the pencil. OH GOD THIS IS SO HARD.

The intestines?

Mario?

K, just go buy yourself some awesome ASHIDASHI socks here.

Canal Street Air Force Ones reinforce all my teenage sneaker dreams

16 May

Aw shit, these ‘Canal Street’ Air Force Ones are so good I kinda can’t bear it. The name comes from Canal Street in New York, obv. For the unfamiliar, it’s designer ‘imitation’ heaven.

Dream Valley Girl Vogue shoot

5 May

The always impeccable Natalie* mentioned this Patrick Demarchelier shoot the other day, and I’ve been obsessing over it ever since. Isn’t it, like, totally radical? Gnarly, some might say. Grody, others might. But they’d be wrong. Would it be possible to time travel back to 1991 and not be a goth, but instead be a rich girl living in San Fernando? So obsessed with the pastel shades and ~ladylike~ props. I want my hair like this, a Valley Girl tan, a gingham shift and some duck egg blue gloves.

Karen Mulder & Elaine Irwin, shot by Patrick Demarchelier for US Vogue, February 1991.

*Srsly, I’m not aiming to be an Internet creep but how do people manage to look this good all the time? Incroyable.
