Think I’m gonna stick around
17 Aug
Someone at work asked me the other day if I was more a winter or summer person — fashionably speaking, of course, that’s how we roll in my office. My answer to this fascinating question has always traditionally been, ‘summer’, but I’m starting to rethink things. I like summer clothes alright, but only when I’m in a climate where summer actually happens. I like nothing more than a sundress and a hat and a cold Prosecco/Cava/delete as applicable/my holidays revolve around/sparkling wine locations.
I know it’s really boring to moan about the weather but really, it’s silly. Today I wore black opaques, a chunky Aran knit cardigan that can only be described as ‘Christmassy’, and a parka. It’s 16 August! In two weeks I’ll be in Madrid, where the temperature is currently averaging 35°c!
Still, for now, the crappy weather is making me dream of winter. I’ve actually been dreaming of winter since the a/w shows, like any other sensible human that saw Burberry, but now it’s all starting to appear in the shops… it makes it even more exciting. Here are the things I’m planning to buy on my next trip up west. Maybe. I tend to get excited now I work in the sticks.
Uniqlo cardigan of dreams – with everything, I guess.
Elizabeth and James nicest shirt ever – with my faux fur tippet
Don’t think I own enough ASOS shoes yet – with everything, and opaques
Time to invest in more Barbour, and why shouldn’t that Barbour be blush pink? [Don't answer that] – over all my dresses. Quite possibly layered over all/any of my grey marl hooded items.
…Oh, and I just found a possible solution to my suitcase problem too…
I’m so through with the British summer. You wouldn’t believe the amount of times I removed my jacket, put up the umbrella, put my jacket back on again or put the umbrella away. I’m exhausted.
That said, when it gets winter and I’m housebound because I’m to scared to go out in the snow I’ll be praying for our schitzo summer to come back again.
