I’m certain that a few of you will have seen this in today’s Observer (the thinking woman’s newspaper of choice for a Sunday train ride), but just in case you missed it. This is where I want to spend summer;
This former boathouse is tucked in a tiny cove at the bottom of a steep cliff path, overlooking its own private beach. Rustic but cosy, it has a double bed, which you reach via a ladder, table with bench seats and a small kitchen with running water. Outside you’ll find the compost toilet and shower (both in a shed), barbecue and a wood-fired hot tub. There’s no electricity; instead light is provided by wind-up lanterns.
Unfortunately, it’s booked up for what seems like forever. Roll on June 2011, I’ll be there. [Should give me time to buy ‘a rucksack and wear sturdy footwear.’]
