Babe Paley and the amazing Kate Spade collection

Talking of Kate Spade… I’m really interested in basically her entire Spring 2011 line. It’s the pineapples that do it. Apparently, the appearance of the fruit on virtually all the accessories is down to the influence of Babe Paley’s house in Round Hill, Jamaica.

Babe Paley, for those not so obsessed with mid-century socialites as me, was, well… a mid-century socialite.  More importantly, she was Vogue editor until she married an oil baron (bloody oil barons), and was a true style icon, voted World’s Best Dressed Woman fourteen times, until she was inducted in to the Fashion Hall of Fame in 1958.

I’d like to imagine she had a gold pineapple ice bucket – which, incidentally, is all I want for Christmas. The one in WAH Nails keeps looking at me.
