Last night I went to the Bureau Club in Kingly Court for an appointment with Tom Bachik. This is Tom Bachik.
Perhaps surprisingly, Tom is one of Hollywood’s most A-list manicurists (except he likes to go by MANicurist, fnar), tending to the talons of Victoria Beckham, Gwen Stefani, Beyonce and more. In fact he did the nails in Bey’s incroyably Why Don’t You Love Me video – how’s about that?
As a skateboarding graphic design dude, he’s perhaps not the first person you’d except to be working on nails for Chanel and the like but he certainly does a darn fine job. He’s just launched Artistic Colour Gloss, a 38-shade strong range of professional soak-off gel polishes. The salon treatment gives you a manicure which lasts up to 21 days with no smudging, chipping or peeling – and the polish only takes about 30 seconds to dry.
For those of you that have never had a gel manicure, here’s how it works. After prepping your nails with a base coat, the gel is painted on in much the same way as regular nail polish. It’s then cured under a UV lamp for a look that resembles a ‘normal’ manicure, but which lasts and remains that high shine polish throughout.
I know mentioning Minx in the same sentence as Artistic Colour Gloss is a terrible faux-pas, but for those of you who are familiar with foil treatments – it’s like that in terms of the durability, but with a high gloss, polish finish.
Artistic Colour Gloss is available now in salons nationwide, with prices starting at £25 for a full set. Although the initial colour line-up is pretty spectacular, you’ll be pleased to hear that seasonal collections will be launching throughout the year. Go see my buddies at Louella Belle for more information.
As for me, I didn’t actually have a manicure with Tom – he was too busy being handsome with someone else – but I did get my nails did with two rather fetching shades, called – prepare yourself – Precious and Princess. Well, what can I say? I am a precious princess and I have a weakness for sparkly nails. Ta-da!
The 21-day test starts now!
